Esther Green

Membership Fundraising Coordinator

I am Esther Green, running for KPFA LSB Membership/Fundraising Coordinator with KPFA Protector Candidates. Over the past five years, my work with KPFA has been especially meaningful to me because of the station’s deep commitment to community, independent media, arts, music, and culture. I have supported and hosted four KPFA live broadcasts at the Craneway Pavilion Craft Fairs in Richmond. These special events helped create engaging, community-centered experiences that brought together local artists, musicians, vendors, listeners, and supporters in a vibrant and welcoming environment.

The events required strong coordination, hospitality, vendor relations, logistics management, audience engagement, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced live event settings. I’ve always admired how KPFA creates spaces that celebrate creativity, diversity, and community connection while also strengthening listener support, membership engagement, and public outreach.

I have spent more than 25 years in the music industry with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in New York, where I served as Director of Events. I managed high-profile music industry events, awards programs, artist relations, logistics, production coordination, and executive-level event operations. The position provided extensive experience working with artists, executives, sponsors, venues, vendors, and large-scale event production.

I also worked for more than 15 years with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, DC, as the official Voice of God announcer for their Annual Legislative Conference from approximately 1990-;2012. That experience strengthened my background in live award show and special event introductions, hosting and MC roles, stage management, audience engagement, and working within mission-driven organizations focused on community impact and advocacy.

Throughout my career, much of my work has centered around community engagement, membership and donor relations, fundraising events, public-facing programs, and creating meaningful experiences that bring people together around a shared mission. I enjoy collaborative environments and take pride in being highly organized, adaptable, and calm under pressure.

IDEAS FOR MORE VISIBILITY AND SUPPORT FOR KPFA:

Expanding live broadcasts and community events similar to the Craneway Pavilion Craft Fairs, featuring local artists, musicians, small businesses, and cultural organizations
Small fundraising events: wine and cheese, etc.
Community block party (vendors, live music, food trucks)
Developing music-focused events, panel discussions, or community festivals that connect KPFA audiences with local talent and mission-driven programming
Creating stronger partnerships with Bay Area arts organizations, community groups, venues, and independent businesses to increase visibility and sponsorship opportunities

I am semi-retired and consult with local non-profit organizations in the Bay Area.
